Remote Education

At Middleton Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all our pupils aged 5-11 continue to receive a high-quality education, even when they cannot attend school in person.

When We Provide Remote Education

We provide remote education when:

  • Individual pupils or groups need to self-isolate
  • Local or national restrictions require pupils to remain at home
  • Adverse weather conditions make it unsafe to open the school
  • A pupil is unable to attend for medical reasons but is well enough to learn

Our Approach

High-Quality Teaching Our remote education mirrors the standards of teaching pupils receive in school. Lessons are planned so that knowledge and skills build incrementally, with regular assessment and clear explanations.

Curriculum Coverage Pupils learning remotely follow the same curriculum as those in school, covering all national curriculum subjects.

How We Deliver Remote Education

We use:

  • Recorded video lessons that pupils can watch at convenient times
  • Online learning platforms where work is set and submitted
  • Printed learning packs for families who need them

Support for Families

Technical Support - Contact the school office if you're having difficulties accessing online platforms

Device Loans - We have laptops/tablets available for families who need them

Printed Materials - Available for families who prefer or need paper-based resources

Online Safety

Parents and carers will find it helpful to understand what systems we use to filter and monitor online use. It will be especially important for you to be aware of what your children are being asked to do online, including the sites they will be asked to access and who from the school (if anyone) your child is going to be interacting with online.Keeping Children Safe in Education

SEND Support

We work closely with pupils with SEND and their families to ensure remote education is accessible and appropriate.
